Barrabas estaba tan entretenido pensado en las cosas que le diría al predicador galileo, cuando de pronto un sonido familiar hizo que se sobresaltara de forma abrupta. Su corazón empezó a latir de cero a cien en dos segundos. Sus labios se secaron. Las palabras se le olvidaron. Sus pupilas se retrajeron al volver la vista hacia la puerta de su celda. Las manos le empezaron a sudar más rápido de lo normal.No era hora de la comida. De ser así, el plato hubiera sido arrojado al suelo sin necesidad de abrir la celda. Además era muy temprano. Y, ¿para qué tres guardias?Sintió temor. Las rodillas le temblaron ante la llegada de los tres hombres acorazados. Ya había ensayado para esta hora, pero jamás creyó que fuera tan agobiante, angustiosa. Sabía que era víspera de la Pascua y que los romanos acostumbraban soltar alguien en ese día, pero aunque haya sido elegido para el certamen de libertad, tenía muy en claro que él era el que menos probabilidades tenía de ser liberado. Si lo pusieran al lado de un ladrón, sabía que el ladrón sería el afortunado ganador de su libertad inmediata.Para que él pudiera ser liberado, el otro convicto tendría que ser una especie de monstruo desalmado, sin humanidad y sin compasión alguna. Alguien que después de asesinar a sus víctimas, las comiera crudas, o pero aun, las comiera vivas. Tendría que ser alguien entrenado por el mismo diablo o algo así para poder ser liberado. Es que Barrabas era de lo peor. Sin duda, merecía morir.El chirrido de esa reja vieja y oxidada fue tortuoso. Hasta el tope.-¡Largo de aquí!- resonó una áspera voz por toda la celda.-¿Qué?- preguntó asombrado el malhechor.-Lo que oíste- dijo el guardia – ¡Lárgate de aquí!- repitió con un gesto de enfado y de indignación.-¿Eres sordo o qué?- preguntó duramente el soldado, mientras miraba que el preso no respondía a la orden. – ¡Eres libre! ¡Lárgate ya por tus cosas!- volvió a decir con cierta impotencia en sus palabras.-¿Libre?-dijo el preso mientras se incorporaba lentamente del lugar en el que había estado sentado.-¡Vamos! ¡No tenemos todo el día!- regañó, como si ladrase, otro guardia.-¡No puede ser posible!- objeto el tercero. – ¡No sé como esa gente pudo escoger a una basura como tú para ser liberado!- señaló mientras se acercaba a él y lo jalaba del brazo al ver que no se apuraba.-¿Libre? ¡Libre!- repetía una y otra vez el ahora ex-convicto mientras era escoltado por los guardias hasta la puerta del pretorio. No cabía en su asombro. Su corazón volvió a latir normal. La boca se le rehidrato. Y sus manos dejaron de sudar. Y cuando lo asimiló, una sonrisa sarcástica invadió sus labios y se burlaba de los guardias.-Y díganme…- pregunto burlonamente - ¿Quién es el inhumano ser al que condenarán en mi lugar? Porque digo, para haberme elegido a mí, esa persona debe ser peor que yo, ¿verdad? Me gustaría saber ¿quién es?- concluyo con cierto aire de agrado en la desgracia de su sustituto.Nadie respondió nada. Los guardias estaban indignados por soltar a alguien de este tipo. ¿Quien quería responderle? Nadie.Volvió a insistir en su pregunta. Ninguna respuesta. Otra vez. Tampoco. Hasta que un guardia se hartó.-¡Cállate!- le grito en la cara, mientras el preso seguía sonriendo. Hace unos minutos se moría de miedo y  ahora se burlaba con cinismo.-Yo solo preguntaba…- gesticuló el maleante.-¡Pues no preguntes!- le dijo uno de los tres.Pero este hombre no dejaría pasar la oportunidad de sacar de sus casillas a los romanos a quienes tanto odiaba. Y, aunque lo ocultara, en verdad quería saber quien había tomado su lugar. Así que volvió a preguntar con la misma sonrisa.-¡Ya! Díganme, ¿Quién es?- pregunto con aire de inocencia.-¡Que te calles de una vez!- le volvió a gritar el mismo guardia.-Pero, no es para que se enoje oficial- remedó mas sarcásticamente aún. Y esta vez uno de ellos lo tomó del cuello y lo jalo fuertemente golpeándolo contra la pared, y encarándolo, como si se lo quisiera devorar de un bocado, le respondió a gritos:-¿Y cómo quieres que no me enoje? ¡¿Eh?! Si nos la pasamos meses buscándote, mientras tú te escondías como rata, y esperábamos el momento oportuno para atraparte como a un perro, para al fin, ver tu asqueroso cuerpo colgando de un madero muriendo como la basura que eres. Y ahora, justo cuando te teníamos en nuestras manos y planeábamos como torturarte en tu agonía, aparecen esos imbéciles fanáticos religiosos y deciden que te quieren ver libre a ti, antes que al predicador galileo…-La sonrisa se le borró.-…Tú deberías estar en su lugar. Deberías ser tú quien va a colgar de la cruz esta tarde. Tú te lo mereces más que nadie. Ese predicador ni siquiera debería estar aquí. ¿Y crees que no debo estar molesto? ¡¿Eh…?!¡¿Eh…?!Los otros dos los separaron. Calmaron a su compañero y Barrabas se tragó su saliva mientras se sobaba el cuello. La sonrisa se le había borrado cuando mencionaron al predicador de Nazaret.-¡Yo pensé que era un buen hombre! - especuló el insensato homicida al oír la declaración del guardia. –Ni modo, así pasa. ¡Qué cosas de la vida! ¿No?- dijo de manera irónica otra vez volviendo a caminar, mientras una multitud enardecida celebraba su salida como si fuese un héroe.Cubrió sus ojos a la luz de la puerta.  Ante la entrada oía los gritos y el murmullo de la gente y con la misma ironía en su rostro saludó a su “público”.  Se reía hipócritamente. No lo podía creer. ¡Estaba libre! Miró a todos lados e inhaló profundamente llenando sus pulmones con el aire de la libertad. Como si lo mereciera…

How to research publishers, their books, and submit a manuscript.Why I am writing this?I think a lot of us have wanted to be a writer at one point or another. If you follow my Hubpages at all, you would have realized that I have not written anything in years. Why? I was busy. Writing.Now, you're probably thinking that if I was writing, I would have posted something there so I could earn an income. However, I couldn't because I was off publishing for other organizations and businesses rather than self-publishing on various platforms such as Hubpages, Vocal, etc.I was not getting paid a lot, but by getting published BY other businesses rather than ON these businesses, I was building my portfolio. When applying for writing jobs, some will ask you for a "writer's resume," which is something I will cover on another post.Last year, I published my first book. It's a poetry/photography book that I self published to get my name out there and so I can say I actually have a published book. This is important because some companies will not even give you a chance unless you already have a publication out, be it self published or not. This is their way of seeing if you are serious about writing or if you are doing this as a pass-time (which if you are, they do not have to know that!).Now I am working on a few new manuscripts titled Red and Alice's Adventures. The former is a poetry book and the latter is a yound adult novel series. I want these book and my future books to be published by large publication companies or small local companies if I want more artistic control. When looking at various publishing companies, they ask for a variety of different things and they all have different expectations. It was very confusing, time consuming, and discouraging at times. Read on and I can show you how to organize all this information and get started. First promotional picture for my book © 2017 Dancia SusiloChoosing a publisher for youIn case you weren't aware, not all publishers publish everything. Even if they do, they focus on specific genres. Take a look at other books similar to or the same as your genre, especially ones you really like personally. Write them down on a list with the book titles as a drop down.Another thing to do is as simple as a web search. Since my book was a poetry/photography book, I went on Google and typed in: "Top poetry book publishing companies," and went through some listicles. I added them to my list.If you live in a big city or want to look at small publishing companies, check to see if there are any press fairs or networking events. This is a great way to make a positive impression and increase the likelihood of being published. Take your time talking to people there and talk to other authors as they might be able to help you out. Take everyone's business cards and create a subtle "tell" for yourself as to which people and publishers you may want to work with. For example, you can put them in different sections of your folder/bag/wallet or bend the corner of the cards you intend on looking back on. Once you are at home, add these to the list.Research the publishersNow is the time to shrink your list. Go through it and look at their website. What genres are on the main page? This can help confirm if they are still active in that category. Please note that sometimes there are sub-publishing companies and you need to apply through the big one. You should also see what others say about the books published my them and if they get any large reviewers taking a look at their publications.That should have shrunken your list a little. Next, you need to look at the contact information/submissions tab. This will give you insight as to what they are looking for and how to submit your manuscript. Some companies will only accept snail mail and others will only accept digital files (sometimes specific to PDF only). There are some who only want the first few chapters, some who would accept a story proposal and a few paragraphs to show your writing style, and some who need you to send a finished and edited copy. There are also some publishers who will only talk to literary agents.By now your list has probably shrunken to about 2/3 of your original list. Rewrite your list and beside each publisher, write down their email address and/or their mailing address, what they want for your manuscript submission and in which format, any other things they need (i.e. writer's resume, cover letter, etc.), how long it takes for them to get back to you if you are accepted and if they accept work already published elsewhere, and anything that stands out to you about their previous publications or press coverage (be it positive or negative). After laying it all out, if you have preferences, number the order of preference beside each publication company.Preparing for submissionsWhether the publishers ask for a cover letter or not, they will want you to explain why you think your book should be published by them. Looking at your list, you probably have many companies that you have never read from. Create a template with the publisher's name the top and a chart below it so you can write book titles, the themes of the books and subgenres, what you like about the book, and how the titles relate to your book.Take a trip to your local library and using advanced search, look up the publishing companies' names (omit "press" or "publishing") and specify what category you are looking for. Write down all the codes and take out as many books as you can. Read them (do not waste your time on close reading) and fill out your chart. Keep doing this until you have a sufficient understanding about each publishing company and how your book will fit their roster. You may have crossed some publishing companies off your list through this process.Now you can write your cover letter/reason why they should publish your book by looking at the column of how each book is similar to yours. This ensures the publishers that your book will meet their intended audience and that you are not submitting to any and every publishing company. Double check your manuscript and its format to each publishing company, make sure your cover letter is clear, and have your writer's resume ready. If you have a large social media following, include that at the bottom of your resume.On your list or charts, write the date of when you submitted each manuscript. After the estimated response time, you may contact them for the status of your manuscript or check to see if they even received it as it might have been overlooked or lost in the mail. Write down when you contacted them again and check for responses after the appropriate time lapse. If you sent the manuscript and the follow up using the same method of communication (i.e. both via email), you may contact them in a different method like phoning them. If you used two different methods, I strongly suggest you do not contact them again. They probably rejected your manuscript. Revise and resubmit or keep looking for another publisher.

Often time, people tend to go into friendship with one another based on passion, love, meeting situation, similar interest and admirable history. We even sometimes refer to people as our best friends, when they come to our aids at a critical point of need. When one sees anybody that shows an extreme care at an important time or despair period, such a person is considered for a true friendship. This and many other factors are considered a good basis for a true friendship. But the true friendship condition requires a long time to determine.Friendship, however, can come in different forms like a man to lady, lady to lady or man to man. A friendship between a man and a lady may or may not extend further. Both parties may be so interested in each other to the point of deeming a marriage fit. I would like to go beneath this a bit for a clarification. A man and a lady who are on a mere friendship platform may be so keen about each other and be loath to let go of their feelings. If these special feelings fall on both sides, it is good for them. They will surely manage their individual differences and work out their exceptional friendship. Otherwise, if the superfluous feelings between a man and a lady that are considered to be in a mere friendship fall on one side, there may be problem of mind. Ladies usually get carried away in their friendship commitment to men, when more care is shown to them. Hence, they get engrossed in a one sided love by probably a misconception of thoughts. Notwithstanding, whenever love is uncontrollably conceived in friendships by either a man or lady, it is better to declare it to avoid a time regret. By happenstance, the conceived love can be welcomed by the other partner. Otherwise let life continue, but be sure to confess the love first.Even when you are turned down by any lady or man that you have invested your feelings or interest toward, try to be persistent for a period. You never can tell whether your seriousness is being subjected to testing and confirmation. After this, your real focus and desires would be known. Be as it may be, never be optimistic in a lost hope and avoid time wastage. If after you have tried so hard with a total sincerity, a lady or man still turns down your love offer. Please be happy, let him or her be and continue with your good life. The rejection is simply for good, but you might not know at the occurrence period due to your emotional direction. By any factor, if a lady or man is bold to turn down your persistent love offer, be bold to move on. There are millions of God chosen good ladies or men around that you can choose the best from. The lady or man that refused your love proposal might be an attractive obstacle in your life journey, which you might just want by all means, and, as your heart desired it. Just be glad to let go and not force the unwanted affection down your throat. Any lady or man that would be yours would not waste your strategic love offering time without an eventual compliment by a corresponding show of interest. Though the good one might take your time, you would surely get the reward for it. No lady or man is worth dying for by any reason, except you are both bond by a sincere tie of interest or marriage. Above all, a determined mind must develop a thick skin to any form of disappointment by any person. You would really appreciate missing that wrong person as your life partner, when you married the right one. Time shall tell you the differences, as your experience counts, develops and transforms.While I would avoid commenting on lesbianism or gayness, there are two other forms of friendship which lead to nothing but a mere friendship. These are man to man friendship or lady to lady friendship. A true friend can be scarce at times. But I have seen friends helping friends, and also, friends betraying friends. Good friends are committed to true friendship at all time without any excuse. Hard times usually bring out the true friendship colour. Come rain, come sunshine, some friends are there to help even if they have got no money to offer. You will always see the friendship zeal and willingness in them. I would like to say many friends are not for a life time, as time factors would definitely do the separation no matter the intimacy. This does not mean that they are not good or committed friends, but they are just friends that are destined for a limited time. And nothing changes that. By extrapolation, many friendships go sour when there is jealousy, change in financial status, unnecessary competition or rivalry, change in interest or lack of commitment, personality reform, external influence, egocentricity, insincerity, separation by relocation, distance or time factors, and most importantly, change in marital status. By and large, some friends will never let go of your friendship memory, no matter how far the distance or how long the time of being in separation. True friends are scarce but they really exist. To my surprise, some friendships grow in light speed but drop like a crashed plane. This scenario comes in place when two good friends are married as expected to their different chosen wives. The continuity of that friendship would depend on the wives. Most friendships go bad when the wives are not good, too sensitive, nonchalant and disrespectful. Some wives would even want their guys to withdraw from his longtime friendship with his friends. This often happens when the wife is bad and would not want to get exposed by the friends to her husband who would definitely see things from outside love. Women are usually the cause of separation of many friendships. They may just not want to see some friends with their husbands by whatever reason that is known to them. However, some women would still work hard to keep and enhance their husbands’ friendships with others, while the bad ones would ensure the cut off. Hence, let no married man be blamed when he is unable to maintain his old time friendship. He could be under the unknown factors of the wife, since he would not want his marriage scattered. The same happens when a lady is married and she is unable to continue with her old time girlfriends. This restricting factor is limited and not too common when it comes to lady to lady friendship. Finally, whichever way it happens, when your friendship is disregarded or you get disappointed by any friend, just be bold to move on. And be reminded that many people are friends of time. They leave when their time is over. The lady that even rejected your sincerity should be considered a lady of pleasure, and, not aptly suitable for your life journey. Always note that the best are not commonly found. They require a great effort and commitments. So, kindly appreciate the friends that keep you with your idiosyncrasies over time. No one is indispensable!

-Pero, ¿Qué mal ha hecho este hombre?- pensaba para sus adentros el procurador romano. ¡Qué extraño..! Demasiado extraño a decir verdad. Un hombre con una carrera militar destacable en el mejor ejercito que la historia antigua haya conocido. Acostumbrado a las rudezas y crudezas de la guerra. Desalmado a la hora de ejecutar una sentencia sin piedad y sin compasión, ahora parecía estar desarmado ante la pasividad e inocencia que este hombre destilaba por todos lados. No sabía por qué, pero le resultaba difícil poder dictar la sentencia. Simplemente no quería. Podía ver la inocencia de este hombre hasta con los ojos cerrados. Podía respirarla. La escuchaba en el silencio en el que él se negaba a defenderse o a reclamar un juicio justo.¡Qué extraño! Por lo general, Pilato, jamás acostumbraba a detenerse a pensar en la posible inocencia de sus prisioneros. El solo ejecutaba su sentencia sin tantos rodeos. Una o dos pruebas, o testigos, eran suficientes para proclamar una sentencia “justa” para cualquier malhechor. Ya había vivido esto muchas veces; Los juicios, las acusaciones, el acusado, los acusadores, la sentencia y la ejecución eran parte de su vida como militar y gobernador. Sin embargo, nunca se había topado con alguien semejante a este carpintero de Nazaret, a quien todos demandaban ejecutarle de inmediato. Nunca había visto a alguien igual. Jamás se había sentido tan desarmado frente a un hombre como se sentía ahora. Los ojos del Nazareno penetraban hasta lo más profundo de su alma. Lo hacían sentirse impotente. Por eso creo que le reprocho en la cara al pasivo Mesías: -¿No sabes que tengo poder para condenarte o liberarte?-. Se sentía impotente. Asombrado. ¿Cómo era posible que un hombre pudiera callar ante las acusaciones que, hasta Pilato sabía, eran falsas? Le resultaba difícil aceptar que un hombre callara sabiéndose inocente. No tenía lógica. No para un hombre acostumbrado a defenderse de sus enemigos en el campo de batalla. La idea daba vueltas sin cesar en su cabeza. Y, por un momento, se imagino estar en las sandalias del carpintero. Golpeado. Humillado. Recibiendo los insultos de cientos de personas sedientas de su sangre inocente. Y todavía, en silencio, sin renegar de nada… Sin embargo, cuando recordó que este Nazareno en verdad era inocente, se dio cuenta de que él no podría estar en sus zapatos. Reconoció que si él estuviera en el lugar del Mesías, la gente tendría razones verdaderas para condenarlo. Pilato sabía que no sería juzgado como inocente. Su conciencia estaba llena de muertes e injusticias. Su ejecución sería justa. Su cabeza rodaría como precio por sus culpas. Y la sociedad se hubiera deshecho de un desalmado romano invasor. Esa sería la justicia que terminaría con la vida del procurador.La increíble serenidad de Jesús, había logrado desmantelar la conciencia de Pilato. Había escarbado hondo. Pilato sentía como si sus errores, culpas, y pecados más profundos, salieran a flote ante la sola presencia, serenidad, silencio, e inocencia de este carpintero Nazareno. La sola idea de ejecutar a un hombre totalmente inocente, lo hizo sentirse más digno de muerte que este Jesús de Nazaret.-Yo no veo ningún mal en Él- era su declaración. Estaba más que sorprendido. Nunca había visto tanta inocencia junta. Por un momento se sintió prisionero. Atrapado. Condenado por su propia conciencia. Y por si fuera poco, tenía que tomar una decisión dilemática. Por un lado tenía a este hombre. Inocente. Sin duda alguna. No tenía que hacer un extenso y tedioso juicio para comprobar su inocencia. Su silencio lo decía todo. A pesar de ser inocente, no haría nada por defenderse, y eso era como un dardo que se hundió en el pecho del romano y saco a flote la humanidad tan escondida de este. No quería condenarlo.Por otro, tenía una turba enardecida. Enloquecida. – ¡Dice ser Rey de los Judíos!- era la acusación. – ¡Si lo sueltas no eres amigo de Cesar!- advertían otros. Y la mayoría dijo – ¡No tenemos más rey que Cesar!-. Un pueblo encaprichado por desaparecer a un hombre a quien despreciaban por decir solamente la Verdad. -La Verdad. ¿Qué cosa es la Verdad?- preguntó incrédulo. ¿Qué cosa es lo que este hombre diría como para que todo Jerusalén quisiera mandarlo a la cruz? ¿De qué Verdad estaba hablando? ¿Cuál era la verdad que hizo posible tal odio? ¿Será acaso verdad que es un Rey? Si lo es, ¿donde están sus súbditos?¿Sera acaso en verdad este el libertador que todo Israel esperaba? Si lo es, ¿por qué no pelea? ¿Por qué en vez de organizar una revuelta y preparar un ataque al imperio romano, permite que sea insultado y acusado de cosas que nunca ha hecho y de otras totalmente absurdas? ¿El Mesías? Preguntas difíciles para alguien que nunca escuchó acerca de Dios; bueno, del Dios de los Hebreos, porque Pilato también cree en la divinidad. De hecho tiene no un solo dios, sino muchos, pero él no concibe la idea de un dios que se deje ultrajar de la peor manera. Pero, ni todos sus dioses han podido sacar de él, el sentimiento que le provoca este noble carpintero llamado Jesús de Nazaret. Si supiera…Ahora solo le quedaban las preguntas más profundas. ¿Será acaso que ellos también pudieron verse como Pilato cada vez que Jesús predicaba, y no soportaron la idea? ¿Será acaso que también ellos al ver al Mesías y al oírlo, se sentían más dignos de muerte que Él, porque sabían realmente que era inocente? ¿Será Su Verdad, la verdad de lo que somos los humanos, y de lo que realmente merecemos?Dicen que “la Verdad no peca (que verdad tan grande), pero incomoda”, y eso es precisamente lo que le paso a Pilato. Le incomodo, no la presencia de Jesús, sino lo que vio en sus ojos. Al ver a alguien totalmente inocente se sintió culpable. Encarcelado. Y creo que, si hubiese sido en otras circunstancias, y si Jesús le hubiera dicho -¡Sígueme!-, Pilato no lo hubiera dudado mucho. Pero ahora lo que más quería era dejarlo en libertad. Tal vez para no sentirse tan culpable.No así los judíos. Estos, al verse y saberse culpables, se sintieron ofendidos. Su orgullo estaba herido. ¿Quién se creía este Nazareno para decirles la verdad de lo que eran? Ellos eran doctores de la ley. Maestros de la Palabra. Cuidadores y guardas de la ley eterna de Dios. ¿Que podía saber un carpintero pobre? Y, ¿Cómo es que sabía tanto? -¡Demasiado!- dirían todos los escribas.Sin embargo, por ser víspera de la Pascua, y como un acto de “bondad” del imperio, era ya una tradición que se liberase a un prisionero. Una celda tenía que abrirse y una sentencia tenía que dictarse. Esta era la oportunidad para liberarlo. Mil razones para liberarlo, y mil y un pretextos para condenarlo. La injusticia más grande que el hombre haya cometido. Y Pilato, estoy casi seguro, que no quería ser parte de ella y mucho menos cometerla.

People celebrate their special days with an extra joy in life, because of the importance attached or in appreciation of its uniqueness to God. Among the days that we all celebrate is our birthdays, while others can be marriage, graduation, coronation, house warming, death and many other special event dates. Birth days hold special grips on us because of its uniqueness as the beginning of every individual. Whether we have money or not, we still show a great commitment to our various days of birth one way or the other. Many would even make it so elaborate that everyone around would be invited to celebrate with them. In fairness, our days of birth really call for thanksgiving in one way or the other, considering the pains and agony that our mothers go through alone. And the grace they have to be alive thereafter. It is worth celebrating as long as we live. But sometimes, I look back and ruminate on what could be the state of mind of those that gave birth to dead foetus or those that died at the point of giving birth. To the victims in either way, most especially those whose mothers gave up the ghost at their birth time, their birthday would be bitterly mixed with sadness. For as many victims of this, when others celebrate, their hearts would definitely shed tears of bitterness and joy. The life that was interchanged for their existence would be the cause of the sorrow most times, on their birthdays. Whenever I reminisce the lifetime of many mothers that lost their lives to birth a new child, I always feel grieves within me even though I might not know most of them directly. I still feel it never could have happened because they were younger ones. Nevertheless, the reality stares at me that God has the blueprint to every life which he coordinates at will. Till date, many women still die at the point of giving birth and nothing has permanently stopped these death incidents globally, irrespective of the higher technology and the advanced knowledge in some regions or countries. Anyway, that is still God’s supremacy as the owner and coordinator of all lives. More importantly, I felt an extreme shock and soberness on my day of birth in the year 2017, when my favourite Nigerian thespian was buried due to an occurrence similar to those explained above. In her own case, she died two months after she was delivered of a baby. Her death incident was not really the first and would never be the last, but it was grief-stricken. To now make it worst and add insults to the injury, another artist that I love so much in Nigeria lambasted sarcastically that the deceased mother would not have died, if she had stayed in Nigeria to birth the child instead of Canada. But is this really true? In my strong view, the answer is ‘NO’. The artist cum critic above would recall the death of two veteran Nigerian actresses, Bimpe Adekola and Funmi Martins who died of similar occurrences in Nigeria in the year 2002. This is not a matter of here or there. It is all about God’s supremacy above men on the mystery of death. Of course, they can be best at health management in overseas, but it does not stop God from allowing death at the individual person’s appointed time. This happens no matter how short the life could have been. Only God decides the best time, the best way and the best location to eliminate any life. To me, the above artist’s comment is disparaging and more of a lampoon to his person, and even, the deceased. If one’s wife gives birth easily and all the children are in good health, one should always give thanks to God to celebrate and commemorate the various birth risks escaped by the wife. Birth time is a real tough battle for every woman, if you have ever seen one. It is only God that overcomes it for them at most times. While some individuals or families would love to remember some birth dates, some would love to see it never happened. It could be such a regrettable day for some husbands, children, mothers and families. Ladies that have not yet born would definitely bear it one day, and the Lord shall subdue the battles on their behalves. For any woman seeking the fruits of the womb, the dark period is for some hidden goodness. If a woman still has her life she should thank God; even, that her life has not been swapped to birth is a great hope in life. Some husbands would still complain on the money spent to birth their children. And some wives would complain on the hardships they had suffered to birth. Both husbands and wives, however, forgetting that some couples would prefer to spend more and even go through more hardships just to have their birthed children or wives alive. Pathetically, some women would even want their lives swapped to birth just a single child for the sake of life record. But I forbid this no matter the longevity of their barren situations, and, I pray for a safe delivery for every pregnant woman. On this note, it is important to strongly celebrate God and tread softly in all our birthday celebrations, because some people would wish such a memorable day never existed in dear lives. Thus, all mothers are wonderful warriors and should be strongly remembered on our various birthdays. More so, when you celebrate your birthday, try to think a bit about your death day; after which you know nothing around you again. After life, one would respond to no stimulus again and would even know nothing about his darling families, facebook updates, important phone calls, his beautiful houses, wonderful career, business, and the luxurious cars he perspired to acquire. One day, individuals would be tapped to wake up to what we are best at, but would never respond. Jokingly sometime ago, a special friend of mine recalled the lifetime of his late father, explaining that his father would always want to sit on a particular unshared sofa in his sitting room and none of the children ever dared to sit on the sofa in his life time. Now, my friend would sit and even dine majestically on the sofa after his father’s death. That is euphemism of life and death! But one should be careful in making a disparaging remark about the dead. This world is simply a journey and we would all alight at our individual destinations. Always take a deep reflection on your unknown death day mirage, while celebrating your birthdays every year. Strive to equally remember others, especially those that are connected to your existence, and, keep life so simple as ephemeral. Nobody knows which birthday celebration would be his last. Barrabas estaba tan entretenido pensado en las cosas que le diría al predicador galileo, cuando de pronto un sonido familiar hizo que se sobresaltara de forma abrupta. Su corazón empezó a latir de cero a cien en dos segundos. Sus labios se secaron. Las palabras se le olvidaron. Sus pupilas se retrajeron al volver la vista hacia la puerta de su celda. Las manos le empezaron a sudar más rápido de lo normal.No era hora de la comida. De ser así, el plato hubiera sido arrojado al suelo sin necesidad de abrir la celda. Además era muy temprano. Y, ¿para qué tres guardias?Sintió temor. Las rodillas le temblaron ante la llegada de los tres hombres acorazados. Ya había ensayado para esta hora, pero jamás creyó que fuera tan agobiante, angustiosa. Sabía que era víspera de la Pascua y que los romanos acostumbraban soltar alguien en ese día, pero aunque haya sido elegido para el certamen de libertad, tenía muy en claro que él era el que menos probabilidades tenía de ser liberado. Si lo pusieran al lado de un ladrón, sabía que el ladrón sería el afortunado ganador de su libertad inmediata.Para que él pudiera ser liberado, el otro convicto tendría que ser una especie de monstruo desalmado, sin humanidad y sin compasión alguna. Alguien que después de asesinar a sus víctimas, las comiera crudas, o pero aun, las comiera vivas. Tendría que ser alguien entrenado por el mismo diablo o algo así para poder ser liberado. Es que Barrabas era de lo peor. Sin duda, merecía morir.El chirrido de esa reja vieja y oxidada fue tortuoso. Hasta el tope.-¡Largo de aquí!- resonó una áspera voz por toda la celda.-¿Qué?- preguntó asombrado el malhechor.-Lo que oíste- dijo el guardia – ¡Lárgate de aquí!- repitió con un gesto de enfado y de indignación.-¿Eres sordo o qué?- preguntó duramente el soldado, mientras miraba que el preso no respondía a la orden. – ¡Eres libre! ¡Lárgate ya por tus cosas!- volvió a decir con cierta impotencia en sus palabras.-¿Libre?-dijo el preso mientras se incorporaba lentamente del lugar en el que había estado sentado.-¡Vamos! ¡No tenemos todo el día!- regañó, como si ladrase, otro guardia.-¡No puede ser posible!- objeto el tercero. – ¡No sé como esa gente pudo escoger a una basura como tú para ser liberado!- señaló mientras se acercaba a él y lo jalaba del brazo al ver que no se apuraba.-¿Libre? ¡Libre!- repetía una y otra vez el ahora ex-convicto mientras era escoltado por los guardias hasta la puerta del pretorio. No cabía en su asombro. Su corazón volvió a latir normal. La boca se le rehidrato. Y sus manos dejaron de sudar. Y cuando lo asimiló, una sonrisa sarcástica invadió sus labios y se burlaba de los guardias.-Y díganme…- pregunto burlonamente - ¿Quién es el inhumano ser al que condenarán en mi lugar? Porque digo, para haberme elegido a mí, esa persona debe ser peor que yo, ¿verdad? Me gustaría saber ¿quién es?- concluyo con cierto aire de agrado en la desgracia de su sustituto.Nadie respondió nada. Los guardias estaban indignados por soltar a alguien de este tipo. ¿Quien quería responderle? Nadie.Volvió a insistir en su pregunta. Ninguna respuesta. Otra vez. Tampoco. Hasta que un guardia se hartó.-¡Cállate!- le grito en la cara, mientras el preso seguía sonriendo. Hace unos minutos se moría de miedo y  ahora se burlaba con cinismo.-Yo solo preguntaba…- gesticuló el maleante.-¡Pues no preguntes!- le dijo uno de los tres.Pero este hombre no dejaría pasar la oportunidad de sacar de sus casillas a los romanos a quienes tanto odiaba. Y, aunque lo ocultara, en verdad quería saber quien había tomado su lugar. Así que volvió a preguntar con la misma sonrisa.-¡Ya! Díganme, ¿Quién es?- pregunto con aire de inocencia.-¡Que te calles de una vez!- le volvió a gritar el mismo guardia.-Pero, no es para que se enoje oficial- remedó mas sarcásticamente aún. Y esta vez uno de ellos lo tomó del cuello y lo jalo fuertemente golpeándolo contra la pared, y encarándolo, como si se lo quisiera devorar de un bocado, le respondió a gritos:-¿Y cómo quieres que no me enoje? ¡¿Eh?! Si nos la pasamos meses buscándote, mientras tú te escondías como rata, y esperábamos el momento oportuno para atraparte como a un perro, para al fin, ver tu asqueroso cuerpo colgando de un madero muriendo como la basura que eres. Y ahora, justo cuando te teníamos en nuestras manos y planeábamos como torturarte en tu agonía, aparecen esos imbéciles fanáticos religiosos y deciden que te quieren ver libre a ti, antes que al predicador galileo…-La sonrisa se le borró.-…Tú deberías estar en su lugar. Deberías ser tú quien va a colgar de la cruz esta tarde. Tú te lo mereces más que nadie. Ese predicador ni siquiera debería estar aquí. ¿Y crees que no debo estar molesto? ¡¿Eh…?!¡¿Eh…?!Los otros dos los separaron. Calmaron a su compañero y Barrabas se tragó su saliva mientras se sobaba el cuello. La sonrisa se le había borrado cuando mencionaron al predicador de Nazaret.-¡Yo pensé que era un buen hombre! - especuló el insensato homicida al oír la declaración del guardia. –Ni modo, así pasa. ¡Qué cosas de la vida! ¿No?- dijo de manera irónica otra vez volviendo a caminar, mientras una multitud enardecida celebraba su salida como si fuese un héroe.Cubrió sus ojos a la luz de la puerta.  Ante la entrada oía los gritos y el murmullo de la gente y con la misma ironía en su rostro saludó a su “público”.  Se reía hipócritamente. No lo podía creer. ¡Estaba libre! Miró a todos lados e inhaló profundamente llenando sus pulmones con el aire de la libertad. Como si lo mereciera…
